CHATHAM BOYS’ TRACK TEAM OUTRUNS ICC TO STAY UNDEFEATED

05-10-09 - In Chatham on Tuesday afternoon, the Panthers battled the ICC Riders and the elements as the two undefeated boys’ track teams looked to continue their flawless seasons. The cold sputtering rain didn't slow the competition during the meet.

Using victories in the almost all of the individual running events and every relay, Chatham stayed undefeated, beating ICC 90-51. The Riders took first place in five of the events.

 

Match highlights

The Panthers swept the three relay events taking first in each the 4 x 800, 4 x 100, and 4 x 400. Chatham used ten different runners in the course of the three events, and both Ryan Nightingale and James Brinkerhoff competed in two races.

The teams split the hurdle events when senior David Gray won the 110 hurdles with a 15.6 second time. Streeter captured first in the 400 hurdles for Chatham, with a time of 61.2 seconds.

The 100, 200, 400, 800, and the 1,600 were all first-place wins for Chatham. The Panthers also snagged the pole vault with Van Allen's top height of 11”6”. ICC did well in the field, getting the top spot in the long jump, triple jump, discus, and shot put.

Josh Keyes, Ryan Nightingale, and Ryan Coon all were three-event winners for Chatham. For the Riders, David Gray and Dan Hernandez were also three-event winners.
