05-01-09 - Ichabod Crane racked up another victory on Tuesday as they move toward their matchup with Greenville and a rematch showdown with Taconic Hills. The Riders pounded out a 9-1 victory over Maple Hill in Valatie despite falling behind early.
The Wildcats struck first in the top of the opening inning with one run, but that’s all they could muster off another one of the Riders freshman pitchers, Erin Wadsworth. Wadsworth pitched the full seven innings, allowing that lone run on 3 hits and 3 walks and striking out twelve batters.
Although her offense couldn’t pick up a run in the first, it was only a matter of time until the bats came alive as the Riders poured in 5 runs in the second inning and added 3 in the fourth and one more in the sixth.
The Riders pounded at ten hits and drew three walks while Wildcats pitcher Aubrey Williams notched just a single strikeout. Alli Pullen was one of four Riders who had two hits in the game. One of Pullen’s hits was a triple, and she drove in two runs. Sarah Wheeler and
Jessica Van Aphen each added two hits and an RBI, while Wadsworth helped herself on the mound with a 2 for 3 performance.
ICC returned to action Wednesday when they hosted Catskill. On Friday the Riders will host Cairo-Durham.
