PATROON CONFERENCE BOYS’ BASKETBALL: 3RD TEAM ALL-CONFERENCE

03-09-09 - All our local teams’ seasons have now come to an end on the boys’ side of things, and we will continue our look at our own ccSCOOP Patroon Conference All Stars. In our third installment, we’ll take a look at the Third Team All-Conference we have selected.

Third Team

Charlie Van Deven (Taconic Hills, Senior): The 6' 2” do-it-all senior was a jack-of-all-trades player for the Titans despite their going winless this year. Although they didn’t win a game in or out of league, that had nothing to do with the efforts Van Deven put out. He used his length as a shot blocker, defender, and rebounder while averaging just over 15 points a game.

Derick Horn (Ichabod Crane, Junior): Horn provided a lot of toughness and skill for the second-best team in the league. The 6' 4” junior was a force on the boards in nearly every game, especially on the offensive end. He also provided a good scoring touch, putting in more than 10 points per game, scoring inside and out.

Nate Tailleur (Coxsackie Athens, Junior): The 6' 3” junior was the most versatile and dangerous scoring options for the Indians this season. His size allowed him to defend and rebound effectively while also scoring just under 10 points a game, including averaging at least one three a game.

Josh Keyes (Chatham, Sophomore): Keyes was an impressive force on the his young Panthers squad this season. He averaged just over 9 points a game, but that was not where his best work was done. Keyes used his combination of height, length, strength, and great speed to affect games with his rebounding and his ability to get into passing lanes for steals. As his jump shot develops, he has a chance to be a dominant player in the league.
