06-30-09 - For the second consecutive year the Hudson Bluehawks girls’ softball team finished in the upper half of the pack in the Patroon Conference, made their way into sectionals, and put a scare into a higher seeded team.
Needing to win their final regular season game to make it into the Section II Class B sectional tournament, the Bluehawks responded with a big victory to give themselves at least a shot at a sectional title.
Once into sectionals the twelfth-seeded Bluehawks wouldn’t go down quietly but could not overcome fifth-seeded Fonda, and Hudson’s season came to a close in the first round.
The Bluehawks will lose a number of talented and experienced seniors including short stop Meghan Keeler and catcher Lena Alessi. Finding a replacement for those two spots will be key. Returning pitcher Emily Gaylord, center fielder Jenna Turner, and third baseman Amy Bonville will be key in Hudson’s quest to improve upon their two previous solid seasons and take the next step toward advancement in sectionals.
