06-17-09 - Germantown fell to Notre Dame of Batavia on Saturday 6-0 in the New York State softball semifinals at Waterloo High School. The loss puts an end to the Clippers seventeen-game win streak. The team was ranked seventh in the latest New York State Class D poll. Germantown finishes 20-4 overall.
Of the eleven players on the Germantown roster, just three will be graduating this year, but those losses will hit hard. Caitlin Briggs, Courtney Parlman, and Suzy Wright all provided big-time defensive presences, along with hitting in the heart of the Clipper order.
If everyone returns, the Clippers should have eight players with state Final Four experience, including current sophomore pitcher Carissa Phillips, who showed throughout the season and into sectional and state play that she is a more than capable presence on the mound. Fellow sophomores Victoria Fuchs and Lauren Fix will also be looked to for strong seasons next year, along with senior to be Patti Cameron.
