06-03-09 -The Hudson Bluehawks, the fifth seed in the Section II Class B tournament, fell at the hands of the fourth-seed Saratoga Catholic in Saratoga on Saturday, 5-4. The Bluehawks jumped on the Saints early, as their ace on the hill Justin Brantley kept Spa Catholic in check. Heading into the sixth inning, the Bluehawks held a 4-1 lead and looked to be in good shape, but the Saints finally got to Brantley as they went deep for a home run and saw the eventual game-winning run walked in.
Brantley threw six and third innings, giving up 8 hits and 9 walks while striking out 7. At the plate, Mike Rigos picked up a pair of singles for Hudson. Second team All Patroon Conference player, Kevin Gorman added a two-RBI double, while Brandon Williams and Jack Rigos each picked up a single.
Hudson finishes the season 19-4 overall, after going 15-3 in the Patroon Conference. Their 15-3 league record was good enough to place the Bluehawks in second. Hudson will lose six players to graduation, including Siena-bound, First Team All League selection Brantley and First Team All League member Mike Rigos. Second Team All-Leaguer Brandon Williams, Jon Carpenito, Anthony Miller, and Nick Zapp will also graduate.
