CHATHAM TOPS ICC IN VOLLEYBALL ACTION, TH FALLS AGAIN

Chatham evened its Patroon Conference record at 1-1 with a 3-0 sweep of ICC in Valatie on Thursday. After a close opening set that saw the Panthers win 25-21, Chatham took the final two sets more comfortably by the scores of 25-12 and 25-14.
The early season win allows the Panthers to avoid a 0-2 start and keeps them within a game of the early season leaders. The loss drops the Riders to 1-1 after their early week win over Taconic Hills.
Wade Klinger led the way for Chatham as he notched 13 service points, 12 assists, 3 kills, and a block, while Josh Kohrs added 18 assists, 3 kills, 3 service points, and an ace. Adam Scaglione and Max Streeter both finished with 11 kills and 2 blocks. Simon Day added 9 service points, 5 digs, 2 aces, and a kill, while Kevin Myers contributed 7 kills, 6 service points, and 2 assists.
“Our serving was much improved,” said Panther coach Matt Torrey via email. “We hustled to the ball and finally played with a bit of excitement. It was the positive match we needed.”
For ICC, Devin Collins had 7 kills, 5 assists, and 3 service points, while Will Valley had 7 kills.
Taconic Hills fell to 0-2 in the Patroon Conference with a 3-0 loss to Coxsackie-Athens on Thursday. The Titans fell 25-18, 25-18, and 25-8. For Taconic Hills, Matt Jalanti had 9 kills, 7 blocks, 5 service points, and 2 aces. Colton Maher added 6 service points and 2 kills, while Justin Taylor and Chris Callino each added 5 assists.
The Titans return to action Monday as they travel to Patroon Conference foe Hudson for a key early season match up for both.
