02-27-09 - ccSCOOP will continue to unveil our All Conference lists over the next few weeks.
In our second installment we’ll take a look at our selections for the 4th Team All Conference .
4th Team
Dean Forrester (Catskill, Junior): Although not the biggest of big men in the league at 6'2 the undersized center competed at a high level throughout the season for the Cats, especially down the stretch where he scored in double figures seven of his teams final 11 games including 3 of their final 4. His toughness on the boards was also huge for this team inside when they needed a big man to compliment their outside threats. His ability to stretch the defense with the occasional three pointer helps to make him an even more dangerous offensive option.
Jaime Schultz (Maple Hill, Senior): Overshadowed by the scoring exploits of two of his teammates Schultz may have been one of the most under appreciated players in the league. He is so good on the soccer and baseball fields that his accomplishments on the hardwood are almost overlooked. Not the biggest scorer, averaging just over 8 points a game, Schultz made an impact on the game in other areas. Despite his small stature Schultz is one of the top athletes in the league and is a great rebounding guard and one of the top defenders both on the ball and in the passing lanes in the Patroon Conference. Also a pure point guard, he gave his teammates a number of easy hoops this season.
Will Grimmond (Greenville, Senior): On a team with plenty of size, Grimmond was the force down low. With plenty of height and strength he was able to be one of the most reliable low post scorers in the league this season by posting 10 double figure scoring games. His ability to step out and hit a mid range jump shot or drop into the low post gave opponents defensive fits.
Robert Piano (Cairo Durham, Senior): The purest of point guards, Piano was limited by injuries this season and often times overlooked because of his lack of scoring prowess, just 6 points per game. His strength however does not lie in getting himself buckets but instead creating easy scoring opportunities for his teammates. His ability to create helped teammates Hunter Phillips lead the league in scoring.
Josh Ingham (Ichabod Crane, Junior): After a slow start, just one double figure game in his first six appearances, Ingham turned it on for the Riders notching double figures in eight of his teams final 13 games. His transformation into a dangerous three point shooter helped to take a lot of pressure off senior guard Sean Shattenkirk. He finished with 29 threes and tied for 1st on his team. As a relentless attacker on both ends of the court and on the glass Josh helped the Riders to second place in the Patroon and a first round home game in Sectionals.
