The first half was a tightly contested battle, with Delhi jumping out to a small lead and holding it. As the half wound down, the Broncos extended their lead to 11, but the Twins finished strong. Jamel Hicks converted a pair of free throws before Delhi hit a three. Eli Tillerson followed up that shot by hitting a pull-up jump shot and then a deep three-pointer with just two seconds left in the half. The 7-3 run to close out the half allowed Columbia-Greene to go into halftime down by just 7.
Scoring in the second half was hard to come by early as both teams struggled to convert. The teams traded buckets, with the Twins trimming Broncos’ lead to 6. Delhi responded with a 9-3 run, converting two triples, along with a layup and free throw.
The Broncos gradually added to their lead and then converted six from the free-throw line and scored on fast breaks to extend the lead to 22 when the game ended. Each time the Twins got close, Delhi was able to make a big shot, especially from beyond the arc where the Broncos connected on five triples, three of them coming with less than 10 minutes left in the game.
Leading the way for C-GCC, as usual, was Tillerson, who finished with 20 points, while big man Kamal Ramos added 14. Robert Dunn chipped in with 5, Hicks added 4, while Jimmy Boyles and Medhi Elyamine each kicked in 2. Charles Thomas rounded out the scoring knocking down a free throw.
The Twins return to action Saturday as they host Fulton Montgomery before heading to Herkimer on Monday.
