PATROON CONFERENCE VOLLEYBALL ACTION

Greg Dedrick
ccSCOOP Sports Editor

Here’s a look at how our local teams fared last week in Patroon Conference volleyball—who’s been playing well and what to expect from the teams.

Chatham
Beat Taconic Hills 3-0 to improve to 9-3 overall, 5-3 in the league, and followed that up with a sweep over Hudson. With Connor Cockroft rounding his way back from injury, the Panthers are coming together. Cockroft along with Kevin Meyers and Adam Scaglione are putting up big kill numbers at the net, while Josh Kohrs and Wade Klinger have found their groove setting.

Taconic Hills
Lost to Chatham 0-3 in the Patroon Conference but bounced back with a league win later in the week against Cobleskill Richmondville to improve to 3-5. Justin Taylor and Matt Jalanti seem to be leading the Titans, who have enough size to be dangerous as the season continues.

Ichabod Crane
The Riders fell to 2-6 in the Patroon after a 3-0 loss to Maple Hill. Devin Collins is leading the way for this team, while David Winch is finding his way as a setter. Will Valley continues to be an overall presence for the Riders. Another loss later in the week to undefeated Coxsackie-Athens dropped the struggling Riders to 2-7.

Hudson
The Bluehawks were swept by Cairo-Durham and Chatham and remain winless in the Patroon Conference. Kevin Carpenito is in charge of this young squad and is a consistent threat at the net with his kills and blocking.
