04-26-09 - The Hudson Bluehawks and Taconic Hills squared off in a pair of matches Friday and Saturday with Hudson coming away victorious in both games. In game one on Friday, Hudson hosted Taconic Hills and beat the Titans 14-2 in a Patroon Conference baseball matchup. Justin Brantley went 2-3 with 3 RBIs to lead the Bluehawks. Mike Rigos went 2-5 with an RBI, while Jack Rigos went 2-4 with an RBI. Jon Carpenito went 2-2 with a stolen base.
Brandon Williams took the mound for Hudson and pitched the full seven innings, striking out 8 while allowing 4 hits and a walk. “Brandon Williams is developing into a good starting pitcher for us. He mixes speeds well and keeps the offense off stride with his pitches and location," said Hudson coach Kevin Bowes via email.
Mike Jacobsen had 2 singles to lead Taconic Hills offensively. Jacobsen and Josh Weisner combined to allow 14 runs on 11 hits for the Titans.
In game two, Hudson beat Taconic Hills 25-3 on Saturday in Craryville. Mike Rigos went 2-3 with a triple and 2 RBIs, Talib Barksdale was 2-5 with a double, triple, and an RBI, Alex Ebel was 2-5 with a triple and 2 RBIs, Justin Brantley was 2-3 with an RBI, Jon Carpenito went 2-3 with a stolen base and a RBI to lead the Hudson offense.
Alex Ebel threw five innings with 4 strike outs,3 walks, 2 hits, and 3 runs, and Jordan Smith came in for relief pitching the final two innings with 3 strikeouts and a hit pitched for Hudson.
"Our bats came out early in today’s game, which was a positive thing for our team. We had a good pitching performance, and our defense played really well today. We have a tough stretch next week against Watervliet on Monday and two against Chatham on Wednesday and Thursday," Bowes reported.
