TITANS THROW ANOTHER NO-HITTER TO REMAIN UNBEATEN

04-21-09 - The Taconic Hills Titans racked up another no-hitter on Monday as standout junior pitcher Aleshia Link no-hit Maple Hill in Castleton. The Titans, who improve to 7-0 overall, 6-0 in the Patroon Conference, scored 6 runs on 10 hits en route to the 6-0 victory.

Link threw the complete seven innings, walking four batters while striking out seventeen. "Link proved to be solid on the mound for us once again. I give her a lot of credit to pitch a no-hitter, especially in the cold and wet weather," said Titans coach Angela Webster via email.

"The girls had a strong outing at the plate. We had many line drive shots and hard hit ground balls to the holes," Webster added. Lead-off hitter Alyssa Van Alphan did her job at the top of the order going 4 for 4 with two runs. Six other Titans recorded one hit apiece, including Erika Yasinski who added 2 RBIs and 1 run. Elyse DeRuzzio’s lone hit was a triple, while Nicole Havlik drove home a run with lone hit. Kara Williams only hit was a double that drove in a run and eventually led her across the plate. Alexis McComb collected a run with her one hit, and Nicole Torchia added the final hit for the Titans. Link helped her own cause by scoring a run despite not collecting a hit.

Taconic Hills has two more games this week on Wednesday and Friday. The first major test is an undefeated showdown against Ichabod Crane in Craryville. The winner stakes its claim atop the league. On Friday the Titans will again be at home, this time hosting Columbia County rival Hudson.
