04-17-09 - The Hudson Bluehawks and Catskill Cats squared off on Tuesday and Thursday in a pair of Patroon Conference baseball games, according to an email from Hudson coach Kevin Bowes. In the first game, Siena-bound pitcher Justin Brantley threw a no-hitter against the Cats while striking out 11 en route to a 5-0 win. Brandon Williams collected two of Hudson’s five hits on the day, while Brantley, Mike Rigos, and Brad Holmes added the other. All five of Hudson’s runs were unearned.

On Thursday Hudson traveled to Catskill and won 22-9. Jack Rigos led the Bluehawks going 4-6 with a double and 3 RBIs. Talib Barksdale went 2-2 with a home run, a double, and 4 RBIs. Jon Carpenito and Ryan Clark each added two hits for Hudson.

Brandon Williams toed the rubber for Hudson, giving up five earned runs, while walking three and striking out six. "Our bats finally came alive in the fourth inning when we scored 10 runs and our offense really picked up from that point," said Bowes. "Brandon Williams did a good job for us on the mound."

Hudson returns to Patroon Conference action on Monday when they travel to Greenville.
