PAIR OF TITANS NO-HIT CATS IN SOFTBALL ACTION

04-09-09 - Aleshia Link and Nicole Torchia helped Taconic Hills improve to 2-0 as they combined to throw a no-hitter against Catskill on Wednesday. Link pitched five innings, striking out 11 and walking just one, while Torchia pitched the final two innings, striking out 2 and walking two batters.
On the offensive side, the Titans had no trouble plating runs, scoring 15 in the game on 13 hits and four Catskill errors. The Titans scored at least two runs in every inning but two; the fourth and sixth where they were held scoreless.
The Titans put up four runs in both the first and second innings before tacking on another three in the third. Down the stretch, Taconic Hills added two more runs each in the fifth and the seventh.
There were a number of outstanding performances at the plate for the Titans led by Kelsey Campbell, the Titans three-hitter, who collected two hits including a home run while scoring three runs and driving in three as well. Link collected one hit, a triple, driving in one and scoring four runs of her own. Torchia helped herself on the mound collecting two hits and three RBIs. Alyssa Van Alphen had three hits while scoring two runs, and Becky Edgeworth collected a hit and three runs. Elyse DeRuzzio kicked in an RBI and two runs, while Kailynn Keeler had two hits and an RBI. Nicole Havlik added a hit and a run, Erika Yasinski had a hit, and Kara Williams scored a run.
The Titans are slated to return to action Thursday when they host Germantown in a non-league contest. On Monday, Taconic Hills hosts Rensselaer for a doubleheader starting at 11 a.m.
