Germantown controlled the early action in the first half, with the Titans offense coming in the form of counterattacks. As the half progressed, both teams put pressure on the opposing defense, but it was the Titans who struck first. Just before halftime, Taconic Hills got a goal from Rachel Preusser, who has come up big for them numerous times this season. Despite the deficit, the Clippers were not about to let the game and their season slip by without a fight. The Titans began the half much in the same way the Clippers had begun the game, controlling much of the action while the Clippers began to counterattack. Roughly 18 minutes into the second half, Germantown tied the game when Linda Gerlach scored off a Suzy Wright assist.
As the game progressed it looked like either team might be able to squeak out a goal and a victory, but it was Germantown who ultimately capitalized. Thirty minutes into the second half, the Clippers pounded a penalty corner in front of the goal, and following a mad scramble, Gerlach knocked the ball to the back of the cage for her second goal. The Titans put up tremendous pressure all the way to the final whistle but were unable to finish.
Kaitlin Hallmark tallied five saves in goals, gaining the victory for the Clippers, while Katie Teaney made ten stops in defeat.
Germantown has two games left with just one of them being a league contest. On Thursday they travel to Emma Willard, while the Titans head to Albany Academy for their final league test.
