PINK SOX SOCCER FINDING THEIR PLACE

A team comprised of Ichabod Crane soccer players who just completed their fall season has decided to give indoor soccer a shot, competing in the Co-ed Division at Afrims Soccer in Colonie and Latham.

The Pink Sox team features Lacey Powers, Morgan and Jess Van Alstyne, Olivia Armstrong, Shana Barry, goalie Deme Kramarchyk, Michael O’Flaherty, Steve Domino, Trent Andros, Kenny Wengler, Phil Basile, Alex Issler, and Devin Collins.

The team, new to the adult coed leagues, got banged up in the early going, but that didn’t stop them from rebounding from a 9-4 defeat in their first game. “We quickly realized that, even though this is a fun league to play in, we’re the smallest kids out there,” said Kramarchyk. “That’s not going to stop us from being the best we can,” he added.

Since that first defeat, the team rebounded and won their next two contests with five games remaining on their session schedule. “We played a very aggressive and relentless team,” said Kramarchyk of their first game. Since then they have played in games “more our pace.”

“We’re going to continue to work hard and really strive to be successful in this league, while having fun,” said Kramarchyk.
