FORMER RIDER AUSTIN-MICHAUD LEADS HVCC OVER TWINS

Greg Dedrick

Former Ichabod Crane and C-GCC player Dalton Austin-Michaud led Hudson Valley Community College with 24 points and 8 rebounds as the Vikings defeated Columbia-Greene Community College 84-43.

After playing for the Twins last year, Austin-Michaud transferred to Hudson Valley this year and led his new squad over his old one with a good all-around performance. His brother, Ian, also a former Ichabod Crane standout, chipped in with two points and numerous rebounds.

Dalton scored 12 points in the opening 12 minutes as the Vikings jumped out to a 25-12 lead and never looked back. The Twins struggled against the undefeated Vikings, but their offense just never got on track from the outside. In the inside, the duo of Kamal Ramos and Lenny Coons, a former HVCC player, combined for 14 points, while Robert Dunn added six.

The Michauds, who have led the Vikings to 6-0 in the still-young season, are both playing their last season of junior college basketball and are looking to continue playing at a higher level next year. The Twins’ loss to the Vikings was their second of the year to even their record to 2-2.

Kamal Ramos follows his own miss.
