The Columbia-Greene Community College men’s basketball team lost their opening game of the year against top-ranked Sullivan County Community College on Wednesday by a score of 77-47.
After keeping the game close early, the Twins could not keep Sullivan under wraps as the Generals went on a 10-0 run to close out the first half and give themselves the lead they needed to put away the C-GCC.
“We played hard but had many freshman mistakes,” said Twins coach Kevin DeVantier in an email. The Twins were led by two freshmen--guard Eli Tillerson, who finished with 23 points, and forward Kamal Ramos, who had 7 points and 5 rebounds.
The Twins continue their season this weekend with their annual Goldberg Classic. On Saturday they host Word of Life in their first game. Depending on the outcome of that game, twins will play on Sunday in either the Consolation or Championship game.
“There were many positives, but most importantly the guys are back in the gym trying to improve,” said DeVantier.
