03-22-10 - 6:35 a.m. - On Monday the seniors from the Patroon Conference matched up against the seniors from the Wasaren League for a pair of games at Rensselaer High School. The girls' teams got things started off with twelve seniors from all around the league minus the Maple Hill girls who were still competing for a state title. On the boys' side, eleven athletes competed for the Patroon with six missing from the Maple Hill boys' team who were also competing for a league title.
The girls kicked things off and battled back and forth before the Patroon Conference All Star seniors pulled ahead and won 73-71. A foursome of Columbia County participants led the Patroon, with Sam Davis of Hudson scoring a team-high 17 points. Ichabod Crane’s Alyssa Stall and Becca Smith scored 11 and 8 respectively, while another Bluehawk, Shavonda Cousin, also scored 8.
The representatives for the Patroon Conference in the girls' game included Katie Miller and Sarah Mokcyzski of Catskill; Makenzie Edberg of Rensselaer; Lauren Finch of Greenville; Becca Smith, Haley Ooms, Alyssa Stall, and Shana Barry of ICC; and Sam Davis, Shavonda Cousin, and Danielle Kitsock of Hudson. Jessica Dailey, Kristen DerGurhian, and Anna Racz of Maple Hill were unable to play because of their team's postseason run.
On the boys' side, the Wasaren League opened up a large lead on the Patroon Conference who took time to gel as a unit. The Patroon made a run late in the game to cut their deficit to 2, but they were unable to close the gap completely, falling 71-66.
League Most Valuable Player Chris Britt led the scoring with 11 points while Cian McGeever of Cairo and Dean Forrester of Catskill each chipped in with 9. A trio of Riders— Chris Larm, Derick Horn, and Josh Ingham—combined to score 20.
