SUNDAY
Hudson v. Chatham at Saint Rose
The Coaches verses Cancer weekend finished up on Sunday with a pair of local teams facing off. The Panthers and the Bluehawks went toe to toe, with Hudson finishing the game by outscoring Chatham by 14 in the second half and winning 62-45.
Jeff Crank didn’t make his way to the free-throw line but didn’t need to while leading Hudson with 27 points. Crank hit nine shots inside the arch and three beyond it while setting a new career high. Brian McSween also hit three from deep while netting 11 points, and Talib Barksdale kicked in 10.
Seven players scored for Chatham with just one, Will Gauthier, reaching double digits. Gauthier finished with 15 points, while Brandon Johnson added 8. Tanner Niles and Gilbert Rivera each added 5 in the loss.
Taconic Hills v. Maple Hill at Saint Rose
The Titans tried to pull the upset over Maple Hill at the Coaches verses Cancer event Sunday but didn’t quite have the fire power to match the Wildcats, falling 67-36. The Titans fell behind 28-4 after one quarter and were never able to recover.
The Titans offense hit no shots from deep on the day but did work their way to the line to the tune of twenty shots. Unfortunately they made just eight in the loss. Mike Jacobsen finished with a team-high 11 points, while Chris Filli added 10 in the loss.
TUESDAY
Rensselaer at Ichabod Crane
The Riders hosted a very good Rams squad on Tuesday with hopes of staying undefeated and alone a top of the league. A loss to the visiting Rams would have created a three-way tie atop the Patroon Conference.
ICC had a strong first half but the Rams per their usual this season battled back from an early deficit and took the game down to the wire. The Riders surrendered 11 shots from deep but made up for that by keeping Rensselaer off the free-throw line for the most part.
The trio of seniors, Chris Larm, Josh Ingham, and Derick Horn led the charge for the Riders, scoring 54 of the Riders' 64 points. Larm scored a game-high 26 points and grabbed 17 rebounds. Ingham knocked down four shots from deep en route to 17 points, while Horn finished with 11 points, including two from deep. |

WEDNESDAY
Germantown at Berlin
With a log jam atop the CHVL, the Clippers did their part to stay near the top with a 71-57 win at Berlin. The Clipps were up just one after a quarter but added to their lead in each of the ensuing three to earn the win.
Cody Broast put up 25 to lead Germantown, while Mike Wyant scored 20 and Thomas Griffin chipped in with 15.
Loudonville Christian at Hawthorne Valley
The Wildcats could have done Germantown a bit of a favor by pulling the upset and knocking the Eagles out of a tie with the Clippers. but they could not get enough going on the offensive end, falling 60-37.
Big man Emil DeJong scored a team-high 14 points, while Christian Peterson added 13. Sjaak Smeele added 7 in the loss.
Waterford at New Lebanon
The Fordians were projected high in the league in the early season while the Tigers were not looked upon with such high regard, but as the season has progressed, New Lebanon has proven to be one of the elite teams in the CHVL while the Fordians have struggled with a lack of guard play despite their size.
On Wednesday however the Fordians nailed four shots from deep and had three players reach double digits while pulling a 50-48 upset over the Tigers. New Lebanon took an 8-point lead into the half, but Waterford battled back to pick up the win.
Bryan Potter scored a team and game-high 18 points for New Lebanon, while Mike Gavrity added 13 in the loss.
THURSDAY
Chatham at Ichabod Crane
The Riders blew out visiting Chatham on Thursday 77-39. ICC went up by 9 after one quarter and extended the lead to 18 at the half. In the third quarter, the Riders continued to run away with it, outscoring the Panthers 21-4.
Ten different Riders got in on the scoring led by Derick Horn, who poured in 28 points including 8 from beyond the arch. Horn started the game with four shots from deep to put ICC up 12-0. Chris Larm had yet another double double, finishing with 15 points and 10 rebounds.
Seven players scored for Chatham, but only Will Gauthier got into double digits, finishing with 13 points. Brandon Johnson added 7 while Mike Flemming and Ian McGrath each chipped in with 6 in the loss.
Taconic Hills at Coxsackie-Athens
The Titans led by 2 after a quarter but were unable to hold on, falling on the road to the Indians 63-47. After taking the early lead, the Titans were outscored by 10 in the second quarter, and the deficit got larger in the second half.
Kyle Preusser knocked down three shots from deep and finished with 15 points. Chris Filli added 11, Nick Warren had 9, and Mike Jacobsen added 7 in the loss.
Rensselaer at Hudson
The Bluehawks looked to hand the Rams their second loss of the week and looked primed to do so early with their offense coming out on fire. The lead started to slip away from Hudson, and although it still seemed like they were in good shape to earn the win, they could not close out the game, allowing 35 second-half points.
Larell Roberts, who does most of his scoring inside the arch, got hot from deep, nailing six shots from deep en route to 24 points. Jeff Crank added 16 in the loss, while Talib Barksdale and Lindon Alert added 9 and 8 respectively. |

FRIDAY
Hawthorne Valley at Germantown
The two local teams played through the first eight minutes tied, and the Clippers went into the half up just 6, but they used an 18-4 third quarter run to spark a 61-37 win. The victory combined with a Heatly loss on Friday set up a four-team tie atop of the Central Hudson Valley League.
Mike Wyant scored 19 points to lead the Clippers, while Thomas Griffin and Cody Broast added 15 and 13 respectively. Five other Clippers got in on the scoring in the victory.
Christian Peterson scored 15 in the loss for Hawthorne Valley, while Max Ocean added 10. Three other players scored for the Wildcats in the defeat.
New Lebanon at Doane Stuart
With Heatly’s loss combined with Germantown and Loudonville Christian victories Friday night there was a three way tie atop the league and thanks to a 62-52 win New Lebanon made it a four team race.
New Lebanon took a three point lead into the second quarter but extended it to 10 heading into the half. The two teams played even through the second half as the Clippers held on for the ten point lead.
Bryan Potter knocked down 10 of 11 shots from the charity stripe to finish with a game high 24 points. Mike Gavrity hit 3 shots from deep and finished with 17 points.
SATURDAY
Ichabod Crane v. Cairo-Durham at C-GCC
The Riders used a potent defensive effort in the first half to earn an easy Patroon Conference win and remain undefeated and in first place. ICC scored 28 first-half points while holding the Mustangs to just 9. The second half was closer, but Ichabod Crane held tough and won 51-38.
Seven players scored for ICC led by Chris Larm with 17. Josh Ingham added 15, while Derick Horn contributed 8.
