WEEK IN REVIEW: GIRLS' BASKETBALL

MONDAY

Germantown at Doane Stuart

The Clippers raced out to a 14-point lead after one quarter and never looked back en route to a 54-24 win. Germantown scored in double figures in three of four quarters while holding Doane Stuart in the single digits for all four quarters.

Taylor Race scored as many points as all of Doane Stuart with 24, including a pair of three-pointers. Patti Cameron added 16, while four other Clippers got in on the scoring action.

Waterford at Hawthorne Valley

The Wildcats fell behind 27-9 after one quarter and struggled in the second half, finally falling 67-29. The Wildcats continue to find it difficult to score in the league.

Franny Warehouse knocked down three from deep while scoring 13 points to lead the Wildcats, and five other players contributed in the loss.

Emma Willard at New Lebanon

New Lebanon fell behind by 11 in the first half and struggled to find an offensive groove as they were held to single digits in all four quarters and lost 30-17, despite holding Emma Willard to only 8 second-half points.

Alannah Carpinello scored 8 to lead New Lebanon, while Geneva Furlano added 4 and Lauren Sears scored 5.

Taconic Hills at Coxsackie-Athens

The Titans used a big second half to take home a 43-38 victory, which gave them their third straight win. After heading into the half down 3, the Titans outscored the Indians 26-18 in the second half to earn the win.

Six players got in on the scoring for Taconic Hills, led by Tara Clapper with 10. Emma Gryner, Rachel Preusser, and Alexis McComb each added 8 in the win. 

 

WEDNESDAY

Taconic Hills at Chatham

The Titans earned their second win of the week and their fourth straight by knocking off the Panthers 54-29 in Patroon Conference action. The Titans were up just 4 points at the half but used a monster 28-3 third quarter to help seal the win.

Seven players scored for the Titans including three in double digits. Rachel Preusser made seven shots from the field and scored 14 points; Emma Gryner added 13 ,and Alexis McComb chipped in with 12.

Five Panthers got in on the scoring, with Karsyn Sawyer scoring a team-high 14, and Alyssa Keeler adding 8.

Ichabod Crane at Coxsackie-Athens

The Riders outscored host Coxsackie-Athens in every quarter, including a 23-6 first quarter, en route to a 59-20 win. The Riders held the Indians to single digits in each of the four quarters.

Nine different players scored for ICC including Alicia Razanousky, a Junior Varsity callup who scored 12 points. Becca Smith added 10 in the win.

Hudson at Maple Hill

The Bluehawks tried to knock off the undefeated Wildcats on Wednesday but fell 39-26. Hudson outscored the Wildcats in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to close the gap.

Shavonda Cousin scored a team high 10 points, while Sam Davis added 5 in the loss.

 

THURSDAY

Germantown at Heatly

The Clippers outscored Heatly in every quarter and held the Hornets to single digits in all four quarters en route to a 46-31 win. Germantown scored 14 points in both the first and four quarters to start and finish strong.

Victoria Fuchs, in just her second game back from an ankle injury, knocked down three shots from deep and scored a game-high 19 points, while Taylor Race added 17. Kim Kreig chipped in with 6, while Patti Cameron scored 4.

Loudonville Christian at New Lebanon

The Tigers started strong, going up by 10 after one quarter and expanding it to 15 at the half, but the Eagles came storming back in the second half to take home a 44-42 win.

Only four players scored for the Tigers, led by Geneva Furlano who scored 19 and Alannah Carpinello who scored 17.  Lauren Sears added 4, while Kendra Houston chipped in with 2.

 

FRIDAY

Emma Willard at Germantown

The Clippers ended their week on a high note, demolishing Emma Willard 62-24 in Central Hudson Valley League play. The Clippers defense never let their opponents reach double digits in a single quarter, while the offense scored in double digits in the first three periods.

Taylor Race put up a big 30 points, including four shots from beyond the arch. Patti Cameron added 16, while Melissa Fuchs chipped in 8 in the win.

 

SATURDAY

Cairo Durham v. Ichabod Crane at Saint Rose

The Riders easily captured their Coaches versus Cancer matchup at the College of Saint Rose on Saturday as they dismantled the Mustangs 68-8. ICC outscored Cairo 22-2 in the first quarter and never let up, including outscoring Cairo 11-0 in the fourth quarter.

Nine players scored for ICC, and four reached double digits led by Alyssa Stall’s 17 points, including three triples. Shana Barry scored 11, while Haley Ooms and Chrissy James each added 10 in the win.

Taconic Hills v. Maple Hill at Saint Rose

The Titans fought hard against the undefeated Wildcats but could not pull off the upset, falling 53-33. Taconic Hills kept the game within single digits in the first quarter before Maple Hill went up by 15 at the half. The Wildcats extended their lead in each of the final two quarters.

Only five players scored for the Titans, led by Rachel Preusser who scored 14 and Emma Gryner who added 11. The Titans hit two three-pointers, one each from their leading scorers, while shooting only one of two from the free-throw line.
