The Patroon Conference boys' soccer slate got an early start this week as Maple Hill hosted Ichabod Crane on Columbus Day. The Riders surprising loss tightens the race for the league title with Ichabod Crane still slightly ahead of Cairo-Durham.
TUESDAY
Greenville v. Hudson
The Bluehawks remained winless after a 2-0 loss on Tuesday at home against the Spartans. George Harvey and Mike Sanchez who have led the way for Greenville all season long each picked up a goal in the win.
Hudson has three more cracks at earning a win this year, with the next one being a home stand against Chatham on Thursday. Greenville will host Cairo on Thursday as well.
Taconic Hills v. Cairo-Durham
The Mustangs roughed up the Titans on Tuesday posting a 7-0 victory. After a hard-fought first half which saw the Titans go to the half only down one, C-D poured it on for six second half goals. Zach McGrath led the charge with a pair of goals for Cairo.
Cairo gets back to get action when they head to Greenville on Thursday while the Titans will host Catskill.
THURSDAY
Catskill v. Taconic Hills
The Titans fell to 1-12 on the season after falling to Catskill 2-0 at home on Thursday. The Cats scored a goal in each half, one by Paul Sira and one by Joe Distefano. Ricky Meyers made 5 saves in goal for the Cats while Jake Littman had 8 for the Titans.
Up next for the Titans is a trip to ICC under the lights on Monday while the Cats host the Riders on Wednesday.
Chatham v. Hudson
The Panthers kept Hudson winless on Thursday with a 4-0 win in Hudson. Chatham netted just a single first-half goal before putting in three more in the second half for the win. Brett Delamater made 7 stops in goal for Hudson in the loss while Steve Oleynek made 3 stops for the win.
Will Gauthier scored 2 goals and added an assist in the win, while Todd Van Alstyne tallied a goal and an assist from the midfield. Freshman Francesco Tine also picked up a goal while Tyler Mashaw had an assist from defense.
Chatham has Monday off but will have a pivotal late season matchup when they host Maple Hill on Wednesday while the Bluehawks travel to Taconic Hills on Wednesday.
New Lebanon v. Germantown
Although it is not a Patroon Conference match, in a battle of two Columbia County teams, New Lebanon and Germantown squared off in a late season Central Hudson Valley League contest. Over the past few seasons these two teams have been on different ends of the league with the Tigers near the top and the Clippers at the bottom, however on Thursday the two teams battled to a 3-3 draw.
New Lebanon scored three goals to open the game with Todd Ferguson, Mike Gavrity, and Matt Evans each scoring. Before the half, the Clippers drew to within two when Christian Craig followed up a Cody Broast shot and put it into the back of the net.
In the second half, the Clippers kept fighting, and Cody Broast drew the Clippers to within one on a goal, assisted by Ian Whittaker. Germantown would draw even when Whittaker scored off a Broast assist.
