OCKAWAMICK UPDATE: PHRASE II ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT

Several hundred people showed up that night to express their dissatisfaction, for various reasons, with the proposal to move the Department of Social Services and the District Attorney’s office out of the City of Hudson to a new county campus created from a renovated school building in a rural setting at the geographic center of the county.

Next week, proponents will present the plan to another community: the Town of Claverack. On Tuesday, August 26, at 7 p.m., the Claverack Town Board will hold a special meeting at the American Legion Hall on Route 217 in Philmont to hear a presentation about the proposed acquisition and reuse of the building and to receive an application from the county for an exemption from the Town of Claverack’s zoning law for the project.

The public is invited to attend meeting and make comments, which will be limited to the issue of the immunity from town zoning that the county is seeking.
