PRESS RELEASE

Candlelight Night at the Kinderhook Library
The evening of Friday December 9th will prove to be a jovial scene of holiday cheer at the Kinderhook
Memorial Library! We will sponsor a series of seasonal events during the village Candlelight Night.
The evening begins at 6:30PM and will include a holiday concert at the Library by Bells and Motley Consort, a Teen Game Night at the village Town Hall, and the Friends Book Sale at the Historical Society Holiday Shop at the James Vanderpoel House. Bells and Motley will feature 17th & 18th century consort artists Sondra and John Bromka with wassail melodies from Cornwall, Somerset, and Glouchestershire.
Other selections will include a special processional bagpipe air from Northumberland to "pipe your bounds" to insure abundance and well-being throughout the new year. This peek behind the history of Christmas celebration uncovers the universal within the season's mirth and merriment, and plants the seeds of ideas for reestablishing some of the old traditional elements for community celebrations-- further enriching the meaning and majesty of this important holiday season.
Too cold to walk around on Candlelight Night? Feeling too old for horse drawn carriage rides? We have just the thing for you, if you’re a teenager, that is. Join us on the 2nd floor of Village Hall for a special Game Night Friday December 9 at 6:30PM. Stay warm and have fun playing board games, video games or just hang out. We’ll have the Wii set up but you are welcome to bring your own video games and systems to play. Looking to play more Magic: The Gathering—join us!
