GERMANTOWN GARDEN CLUB PRESENTS ECOLOGY OF THE HUDSON
PRESS RELEASE
The Germantown Garden Club will hold its next meeting on Saturday, November 21, at the Town Hall, 50 Palatine Park Rd., Germantown. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. Lia Harris, coordinator of the Changing Hudson Project at the Cary Institute of Ecosystems in Millbrook, will be the speaker. Her topic "The Ecology of the River" will cover the history and geography of the Hudson and how animals and plants interact to shape ecosystem functions. Ecosystems are inherently complex and present a challenge to why they are so important to society and how human actions can result in unprecedented changes to these fragile areas. A question and answer session will follow. The public is invited to share in learning about this interesting subject as part of the club's Hudson River 400th year anniversary tribute. Election of club officers will also take place. Refreshments will be served. New members are always welcomed. For more information, please call Fran Bufi, 518-537-4868.
