06-01-09 –12:30 p.m. - Everyone should know the pleasure of attending a country barbecue on a perfect spring day. All the better when it's for a terrific organization like the Columbia Land Conservancy. The spectacular views and vistas of the Old Chatham Sheepherding Company were there for everyone to enjoy, the weather, after the threat of a cloudburst had passed, cooperated fully, and the crowd reveled in the surroundings, enjoying activities such as the border collie demonstrations provided by Eric Johnson and Wild Goose Chase, an oxen demonstration from Ralph Hartzell of Hartz Farm, a birds of prey presentation, the one and only Ward Stone (learn to love your bats), hay rides, stone masonry, a hay maze, and a terrific buffet provided by Georgia Ray's Kitchen.
