The Tedisco forces had anticipated (and the Murphy forces feared) that the paper ballots from Saratoga County—Tedisco's home county—would give him the margin he needed, but this afternoon, with all the paper ballots in Saratoga County counted and reported to the State Board of Elections, Murphy maintains his lead. Tedisco took 57 percent of the paper ballots in Saratoga County, a little better than the 54 percent he took in the machine vote. By contrast, in Washington County—Murphy's home county—the Democratic candidate took 59 percent of the absentee ballot vote and 56 percent of the machine vote.
Columbia County finished counting its non-military absentee ballots this afternoon. The report from a poll watcher was that the acrimony had lessened from previous days but the rate at which ballots were challenged and set aside was not. Columbia County counts its military and federal absentee ballots tomorrow. It has been agreed that these ballots will not be challenged.
