04-14-09 - You have to wonder if congressional candidate James Tedisco and his train of lawyers are moving so fast that the wheels are leaving the tracks.
At the Columbia County Board of Elections this afternoon, lead Tedisco attorney Vincent Messina challenged the absentee ballot of Greenport resident Kirsten Gillibrand. That’s U.S. Senator Kirstin Gillibrand, challenged on the basis, according to reports from the scene, that she could have been in the district to vote in person.
Democratic attorney Thomas Garry, leading the Scott Murphy poll-watching team—and apparently anticipating almost anything, even this—responded quickly that Senator Gillibrand was not able to arrive in the district until after the close of the polls on election day and went straight to Albany. The Senate was in session on Tuesday, March 31. It convened at 10 a.m. and adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
