UPDATE 04-13-09 12:45 p.m. - At 10:30 this morning, the New York State Board of Elections reported new totals in the race between Scott Murphy and Jim Tedisco: Murphy 77,907; Tedisco 77,882. The margin, which still favors Murphy, has narrowed to 25. The new numbers, which change the totals, come from Greene County, which reportedly has now completed its count of non-military and non-federal absentees.

 

 

Comparing the figures reported for Greene County just how "unofficial" the numbers reported by the State Board of Elections still are. Greene County reported their paper ballots—201 for Murphy, 223 for Tedisco—but also amended their machine votes numbers, reducing the total for Murphy by 1 (4,383 to 4,382) and the total for Tedsico by 4 (5,485 to 5,481).

Military and federal absentee ballots are due by the end of the day today. Meanwhile, this afternoon the count of non-military and non-federal ballots resumes in Columbia County, as well as Dutchess, Saratoga, Warren, and Washington counties. isco gained one in Essex County, Tedisco's votes in Rensselaer County increased by 9, and Warren County reported 30 votes for Murphy and 34 for Tedisco. By 4:30 p.m. on Friday, only Saratoga and Washington counties had not reported any results from the count of paper ballots.
