THE 20TH CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT SPECIAL ELECTION

Carole Osterink

ccSCOOP Editor

UPDATE 04-10-09 - No paper ballots were counted today because of the Good Friday holiday, but since 4:30 yesterday afternoon, more results from the paper ballot count have been recorded at the New York State Board of Elections, and as a result Murphy's margin has increased to 46. The current totals are: Murphy 77,773; Tedisco 77,727.

At this point, three counties—Essex, Otsego, and Rensselaer—have finished counting their non-military and non-federal absentee ballots, and three counties—Saratoga, Warren, and Washington—have reported no results from the paper ballot count. The remaining four counties are somewhere in the process of counting paper ballots and reporting the results. In Columbia County, for example, 233 paper ballots from 16 of the 58 precincts have been looked at so far: 99 were for Murphy; 42 for Tedisco; 83 were challenged; and 9 were declared void.
