09-09-09 – 5:00 p.m. - It seems impossible, but it can sometimes be hard to arrange your weekend in a way that gets you to a farmers’ market, no matter that there’s a choice of two on Friday—Chatham and Stuyvesant, both open from 4 to 7 p.m.—and two or sometimes three on Saturday—Kinderhook from 8 a.m. to noon, Hudson from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. noon, and Hillsdale every other Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This summer, for those of us who often rue on Saturday afternoon the fact that we didn’t make it to the farmers’ market on Friday night or Saturday morning, there’s another option: the Philmont Farmers’ Market, which happens every Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. |

The Philmont Farmers’ Market is a project of Philmont Beautification, Inc.—a grass-roots community organization whose goal is the revitalization of the old mill village of Philmont. The farmers’ market, which opened at the end of June and runs through October 18, is located in a parking lot at the corner of Main and Elm streets. The vendors are farmers, food artisans, and crafters located within fifteen miles of Philmont, some of whom may be familiar to market goers from other area farmers’ markets. There is often live music, and there is always the café, where you'll find bistro tables with umbrellas and can sit and enjoy some of the comestible market wares on site. |
