HUDSON VALLEY CHORAL SOCIETY ANNOUNCES AUDITIONS FOR THE FALL SEASON
PRESS RELEASE
09-10-10
Auditions for the Hudson Valley Choral Society’s fall season will be held Monday, September 13. The SATB choir is conducted by Gretchen Rueckheim, with rehearsal accompanist Delana Thomsen. New members are welcome on all parts for December 11 and 12 concerts featuring Vivaldi's Gloria, as well as selections from Renaissance, Baroque, Classical, and 20th-century composers, including William Byrd, Guillaume Dufay, Henry Purcell, Edward Elgar, Hector Berlioz, Camille Saint-Saens, Ralph Vaughan-Williams, and Thomas Ravenscroft.
Experienced singers interested in performing classical and contemporary choral music with a group of 25 to 30 members are invited to call Ms Rueckheim, at 518-794-9831, for further information and to schedule an audition. A committment to practicing the music independantly is expected; an ability to read music is helpful but not required. New singers must join by the September 27 rehearsal; those interested vocalists unable to audition on September 13 may arrange an alternate date by contacting Ms Rueckheim prior to September 27.
The Society rehearses Monday evenings from 7:30-9:30, at the Claverack Reformed Dutch Church’s education building, on Route 9H, about one mile north of the intersection of Routes 9H and 23 in Claverack. The first rehearsal is September 13.
The Society’s performances are supported through the generosity of its advertisers, friends, audience, and a 2010 grant from the Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts, administered in Columbia County by the Columbia County Council on the Arts through the Twin Counties Cultural Fund. |
